Bright Eyes + Cursive @ Fillmore Theater, Miami, Florida (March 2, 2011)

ok so FINALLY i have time to post on the shows! im already in new york but i dont want to get too behind so here is the miami post...

Bright Eyes + Cursive @ Fillmore Theater, Miami, Florida

miami was ok. i mean ive never been and i had some interest in it but not a lot.

this is me 500 metres from miami beach which was close enough for me. sorry i look frowny. my first pic on this blog. it was sunny.

but from now on miami would have a special place in my heart as the place where i lost my bright eyes virginity. yes, i had not seen bright eyes live EVER. i have seen monsters of folk and mystic valley but not b.e.

and you know you always remember the first time and compare all subsequent experiences with it.

they had a "fast lane" here where you pay extra to get in before everyone else aka more ways we can rip money out of our customers by making it seem you like you have a choice whether you want to spend money or not.
BUT i of course partook in this fast lane.

met some awesome people on the line:

shannon, christa and brad.

i wasnt sure what to expect. i expected nothing. i did hope, however he'd play a decent amount of old stuff.

two sails stood ominously on either side of the stage. kind of reminded me of this:

CURSIVE
cursive and bright eyes are my total faves from saddle creek. to have them both play together made my 15 year old self break down in huge happy sobs.

oh tim kasher was so much more than i expected. someone asked me what cursive was like and what time was like and i said "um... tim is like a really hetero-punk version of conor."

i think they are two sides of the same coin.

BRIGHT EYES

well... well well well. i mean what can i say. a little disappointed.

i know i know. SACRILEGE!

dont get me wrong. i loved it. i freaked out. i screamed. i almost collapse. every song was like a little heart attack of happiness.

BUT... i think conor wasnt really feeling it today. comparing tonight with the other times i'd seen him play he wasnt really throwing himself into it. it is, however, the first date of this leg and apparently they had been practicing at the fillmore for the past 3 days. i mean that's a lot of practice really considering they had already played the first leg of the european tour. in any case it was still lovely.

the only banter really was him mentioning the US involvement in modern wars and how he wants us to do something about it right before he played old soul song.

oh and when he asked if anybody came in a group of three. and then if anybody was likely to get into a threesome. and then he dedicated triple spiral to those people. lol.

ok so this will probably be the most media heavy post of the whole tour. i dont want to be all crowding the interwebs with the same pics. i'll just be putting up interesting one-off things. also this has taken me 3 hours! omg. i need to cut that time down.

oh and that sideways angle photo thing ya'll have to get used to sorry. i just seem to do it that way.

so this dude who looked like he was from the rolling stones were giving out posters. i got one that looked like the one from the top of this post with the fire. but there was also this sweepy looking one:

ok so thanks miami!
